STAR TREK FANS, ACTORS UNITE FOR HURRICANE RELIEF September 2, 2005 – Fans of Star Trek are joining together with actors from the series to raise funds for relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The United Federation of Fans, www.UnitedFederationOfFans.com, is raising funds through both donations and proceeds from auctions of Star Trek memorabilia, donated by fans and actors. Donations to the Red Cross, Humane Society of the United States, and the United Way are accepted via the website. Auction listings at eBay are handled through GENIUS (Genre Entertainment Network In Union to Serve), an organization founded by actress Chase Masterson to raise funds for charitable endeavors. “As artists, we create in order to make a difference. The funds raised by contributions of signed scripts, DVDs, production stills, publicity shots, CDs, props, wardrobe or set pieces will make a significant difference in the lives of people we may never touch in any other way,” says Ms. Masterson. In addition to Ms. Masterson, actors Armin Shimerman and Kitty Swink support the efforts of the United Federation of Fans.
